Sewing the sections

This picture shows all the sections of a book neatly folded and ready to be sewn. It also shows my linen thread and my hunk of natural bee's wax used to wax my thread with. You wax the thread to keep it from knotting up on you. There are many different stitches that can be used when making a book, this book was sewn with linked stitches and kettle stitches on the ends.

But how do you push that needle through all those pieces of paper without causing yourself massive blood loss???

You make the holes first with an awl then sew through the hole. I'll get a picture of that step up later this afternoon!

I love step by step stuff on blogs. It makes the process much more interesting. I'm doing this with glass. (an your photos are great).

Thanks glass! It's not quite step by step, but I thought I would show the major steps along the way. Step by step would take me all year to post!
